Beginning a New Journey at 50 – My First Blog
It’s been years ago since I wanted to learn how to blog. I have enjoyed reading my kids’ blogs which made me discover and realize things about them which we don’t usually talk about: feelings of extreme joys, frustrations, and madness; pride over achievements; insights on life, school, home and career; their growing network of friends and range of interests; their latest goings-on and more.
I hesitated and put-off writing a blog though I dreamt of having my own blog since: I was far from being tech savvy and thought that blogging required sophisticated computer know-how which I still had to learn; I had so much ideas and plans on my head about blogging which became my bottleneck; I couldn’t decide on a domain name for my many interests; I wanted a perfect time to start a blog post, thinking I’d wait till I turn 50 come November; and finally, I’ve developed an inertia for writing which was so hard to overcome.
On the 19th of June, my son finally got me my own site: amomandmore.com. It took me days to write my about-me-page and still more days of delay to write this first blog. It was so difficult to just start.
While cleaning up this morning, I unearthed a greeting card (from an old box of keepsakes) I handmade three decades ago with a quote from Lao-Tzu saying “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step”. I was struck by its timely message to take this “first” in my journey to the big WWW (world wide web). Even the inner face of the card gave me a nudge and revved my spirits further: “all glory comes from daring to begin.” (by Eugene Ware)
Like most “firsts”, this blog post is a great challenge for me to do something new which I haven’t done before. It is a benchmark achievement which will inspire me to write and express myself in a blog. It is a new path which I hope could lead me to a better knowledge of my purpose in life and a greater sense of meaning in sharing with others — my experiences, knowledge, and discoveries on being a mom and more.
50 is the new 30, right? What an exciting new beginning for me!

hi mrs. roselo!
kaya natutunan kong mahalin ang pagblog, kahit di na ako araw-araw nagsusulat.
this is jaydee! aaron’s friend! welcome to blogging!
dati rin di ko maintindihan kung baket sikat na sikat ang blog, kaso nadiskubre ko na therapy siya. malalabas mo lahat ng nararamdaman mo without really hurting anybody and minsan you just find out na yung mga kaibigan mo, pareho lang sa iyo ang pinag-dadaanan at nagbibigay sila ng encouragement sayo.
anyway, yun lang! maligayang pagbloblog!!!

Welcome to the blogosphere. It’s never too late to blog. I started when I was in 48 and it has brought me new friends, fun and adventure. I even commend you for writing a long entry. I can’t really write so I ended up with less than 200 words for my very first entry. Like you, it was hard for me to write my first entry. Practice is all it takes. Just write as often as you can. You will be surprised how this blog will turn around in a few months.

Welcome to the blogging world, Tita! I’ve been blogging since I was 15, and ngayong wala na po ako sa Pilipinas, blogging has been a great way for me to tell my stories to my friends back in the Philippines. Hope you enjoy blogging and maintaining this site as much as I do.

Hi Mrs. Roselo, this is one of Aaron’s friends.
Welcome to the blogging community.
Hope that your blogging experience will be a fruitful one, your experiences and thoughts when days pass by maybe a lesson and advice that should be learned by your readers. I hope to learn from you also as I read your upcoming entries.
Again welcome to the blogging community.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I feel I’d enjoy blogging all the way from now on. As I begin to blog, my son Aaron and I would have to change roles meantime: I’d be as a “child” learning my first steps and getting fed just enough about blogging (by Aaron). I hope I can eventually write blogs as Aaron does so that you’d drop by often to learn something, get entertained, connect or simply know more about Aaron’s mom. See ya!

@Noemi
Thanks for the warm welcome! I’m proud to have a great Pinoy mom blogger as one of my first site visitors. It might interest you to know that your blog was one of four mom blogs which Aon listed as models to emulate as I venture into blogging. The moment I read your first “About Me” paragraph, I felt a connection: age, UP ’78 (husband and me) and two kids in college (Ateneo and UP). But, I am not a techie as you are. Ten years ago, I’ve relied on my kids to encode my emails for me, never thinking that one couldn’t survive nowadays without the computer. I am learning and I’m sure that with inspiring probloggers like you, I’d be a happy and fulfilled mom blogger as you are, someday.
